Understudy (“Understudy,” “we,” “us”) is a product built by Captive Demand. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Understudy application and website (the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your name, email address, and profile image through our authentication provider, Clerk.

Content you submit. To generate demos we process the URLs, screen recordings, gameplans, brand assets, and any logged-in browser sessions you choose to provide.

Usage data. We collect basic technical and usage information (such as device, browser, and actions taken in the app) to operate and improve the Service.

How we use information

We use your information to provide and operate the Service, generate your demo videos, maintain security, communicate with you, and improve our product. We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers

We share information with third-party processors only as needed to run the Service, including Clerk (authentication), Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting and rendering), Anthropic (script generation), and ElevenLabs (voice narration). Each processes data on our behalf under their own terms.

Data retention

We retain your account and project data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your data at any time.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption of sensitive stored credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
